South Carolina Stingrays News Release

BEAUMONT, Texas - Goaltender Davis Parley turned aside 47 shots to register his league-leading 20th victory of the season backstopping the South Carolina Stingrays past his former team, the Texas Wildcatters 6-2 in his return visit to Ford Arena.

"Parley was tremendous," South Carolina coach Jason Fitzsimmons said. "Davis is a true professional. Goaltending was the difference and he has been a pleasure to watch. We spread around the scoring and it was a great way to begin a six-game road trip."

South Carolina (22-15-3, 47 points) came out firing on all cylinders. Evan Schwabe fed Matt Reid for a one-time shot from the slot beating goaltender Matt Yeats for his team-leading 16th goal of the season at 5:05.

Nate Kiser made it 2-0 for the Stingrays unleashing a slapshot from the blueline at the 17:08 mark that went off the goalpost and into the net. Chris Chaput picked up an assist on Kiser's 3rd goal of the campaign and second in as many games.

Just 40 seconds later, Stephen Werner put a shot from the right circle by Yeats for his fifth tally in eight South Carolina games this season. Peter Szabo garnered the lone helper.

In the second period, Donny Grover wired a pointshot on the power play for his seventh goal of the season from Reid and Schwabe at 1:29 to give the Stingrays a commanding 4-0 lead.

Texas (23-12-5, 51 points) captain Brandin Cote solved goaltender Davis Parley, who won his American Hockey League debut with Hershey on Wednesday, on the Wildcatters 35th shot of the night at 5:37 on the power play from Olivier Proulx.

Stingrays regained their four-goal lead on a power play of their own. Schwabe took a pass from Cail MacLean at the side for his 13th marker of the year. Szabo also collected an assist.

Chaput made it 6-1 by depositing his 14th of the season from Szabo at 12:28.

Proulx gave Texas its second goal on the power play with 3:20 remaining in regulation. Leon Hayward and Jonathan Paiement had the helpers.

South Carolina went 3-for-8 with the man advantage, while Texas converted on 2-of-10 opportunities. Wildcatters outshot the Stingrays 49-31.

Additional Note: ECHL Commissioner Brian McKenna was in attendance for a visit from the league office in Princeton, New Jersey.
