Fresno Falcons News Release
Bakersfield, Calif. - The Fresno Falcons went to a shootout for the second straight night on Wednesday, and for the second time in as many games, they fell short, as they dropped a 2-1 decision to the Bakersfield Condors in front of 4,292 fans at Rabobank Arena.
Fresno took a 1-0 lead into the locker room after one period. Cory Murphy notched a power-play goal, his seventh goal of the season, blasting a shot past goaltender Danny Taylor from the high slot 5:53 into the opening period.
The Condors tied it with a power-play goal of their own 12:36 into the second period. Josh Liebenow fed the puck to Kevin Truelson streaking in from the right point, and he was able to slide a quick one-timer past Scott Stirling for the tying goal. The goal ended Stirling's shutout streak at 124:26.
In the shootout, Rane Carnegie scored in round one, and that was enough as all five Falcon shooters were stopped by Condors' goaltender Danny Taylor.
The Falcons return to Save Mart Center on Friday, hosting the Phoenix RoadRunners at 7:30 p.m. The first 3,000 fans in attendance receive a free Falcons All Star Poster courtesy of Dumont Printing, ABC 30, and 95.7 The Fox. The posters feature the Falcons All Star representatives Luke Curtin, Ryan MacDonald, and Tom Walsh, and all three players will be signing autographs on the concourse following the game.
Also following the game, fans are invited to join Falcons' players at Logan's Roadhouse, located at 7507 N. Blackstone Ave. for a post-game party. Friday's game also features the Falcons/Golden Valley Girl Scouts Council Cookie Rally. Friday is the first day that Girl Scout Cookies go on sale, and Girl Scouts will be at Save Mart Center taking orders. The Girl Scouts will also be participating in an on-ice parade during the first intermission.
Tickets for all Falcons home games can be purchased at the Save Mart Center Box Office, by phone at (559) 485-8497, on-line at www.ticketmaster.com, or at any TicketMaster outlet. All Falcons' games air on 1550 Sporting News Radio starting with the Port of Subs Pre-Game Show 15 minutes prior to face off.
