STOCKTON, Calif. * The Stockton Thunder, the ECHL affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers of the National Hockey League, has acquired center Jim Dahl from the Alaska Aces in exchange for future considerations, Thunder head coach Chris Cichocki announced today.

"With the injury to Brendon Hodge, I felt it was essential to find a good playmaking center and who can score goals," said Cichocki. "Jim can provide the offense we need with the absence of Brendon."

Dahl, 25, is in his second professional season and has scored seven points (3g-4a) in 22 games this season with Alaska, tallying a +6 rating.

Last season with the Tulsa Oilers, the Minnetonka, Minnesota native won the Central Hockey League's Rookie of the Year award after leading the league in rookie scoring and finishing 10th overall in the CHL with 82 points (35g-47a) in 64 games. Dahl boasted a +23 rating on a Tulsa squad that finished -18 in goal differential and missed the playoffs in 2005-06.

The 6-foot, 200-pound center played four years (2001-05) of college hockey at University of Alaska-Anchorage (NCAA), tallying six goals and seven assists in 100 career games for the Seawolves.

Thunder center Brendon Hodge was placed on the 30-day injured reserve list on January 19 with a wrist injury and is scheduled to miss 8-12 weeks of action. He is currently fifth on the Thunder in scoring with 24 points (8g-16a).

The Thunder returns to play on Friday with an 8:15 p.m. road game against the Aces at Sullivan Arena. The game can be heard live on the internet (free-of-charge) and is available for viewing for a $6 "pay-per-view" charge at www.stocktonthunder.com (courtesy of B2 Networks).

The Thunder drew 228,364 fans to Stockton Arena in its inaugural season, the ECHL's best attendance mark for 2005-06. Thunder season tickets, mini-plans, group tickets and individual tickets for the 2006-07 season are on sale now.
