
Doug Christiansen Heads For Europe

Reading, PA - The Reading Royals of the ECHL, affiliate of the Los Angeles Kings of the National Hockey League and the Manchester Monarchs of the American Hockey League, today announced that forward Doug Christiansen has elected to leave the Royals in order to play in Europe. Christiansen (6'5"/245 lbs) (28), a fifth year pro, will join Renon/Ritten Sport of the Italian Serie A League. Christiansen, who last season led the Royals in goals (35) and points (64) and received the Fans' Choice Award as the team's Most Valuable Player, scored six goals, assisted on five others and picked up 80 penalty minutes in 36 games with the Royals this season.
The Royals return to action on Friday night (7:05 pm) at the Sovereign Center against the Charlotte Checkers. The first 2000 fans in attendance that night will receive a cell phone holder courtesy of Immix. Royals' game night broadcasts can be heard live on ESPN Radio 1240 am (and on the internet through the Royals' website, www.royalshockey.com), beginning thirty minutes before the opening face-off. Streaming video is also available for $6.00 per game through the B2 Networks, which can be accessed through the Royals' website.
