Bakersfield Condors News Release
BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Danny Taylor made 28 saves in regulation, stopped five shots in overtime, and blanked all five Fresno Falcons in the shootout to lead the Bakersfield Condors to a 2-1 win in front of 4,292 at Rabobank Arena.
Fresno (23-12-4, 50 points) struck first, as Cory Murphy's screen shot from the point eluded Taylor to make it 1-0 at the 5:43 mark of period one. Tyler Kindle had an assist on the power-play goal.
Bakersfield (24-11-4, 52 points) tied it up at 12:36 of the second on the power-play. Kevin Truelson took a beautiful cross-ice feed from Josh Liebenow and beat Scott Stirling to make it 1- 1.
Taylor made a game-saving stop early in the third period, diving across the crease to deny a point- blank opportunity by Brett Hammond.
Both teams had chances in a wild overtime, combining for 11 shots, but neither goaltender budged, and so the game went to the shootout.
Rane Carnegie went first for Bakersfield and beat Stirling over the glove, and Taylor made it stand up, stopping all of the Falcons efforts to tie it.
Notes: Taylor improved to 6-7-1 on the season, and allowed only one goal for the second time in 15 outings. Truelson and Liebenow each earned their 30th point of the season, tied for fourth on the team.
