South Carolina Stingrays News Release
North Charleston, SC South Carolina Stingrays Head Coach Jason Fitzsimmons announced today that the team has signed rookie forward Ty Morris to a contract for the upcoming season. Morris becomes the sixth player signed this off season by the Stingrays.
Morris (6'-200lb), a native of Millet, Alberta, was a 2003 fourth round draft pick of the Vancouver Canucks. Last season, he split his time between the Vancouver Giants and the Red Deer Rebels of the Western Hockey League. In 42 games with the Rebels, he netted 22 goals and had 33 assists.
"Ty is a quality young player that comes highly recommended from our sources in the WHL," commented Fitzsimmons. "We are looking forward to the size and goal scoring ability that he should add to our lineup."
The Stingrays will drop the puck on their 13th season of professional hockey in October. A variety of season ticket and group ticket packages are already on sale. For ticket information contact the Stingrays office at 744-2248 or log on to www.stingrayshockey.com.
