Atlanta Gladiators News Release
The Gwinnett Gladiators announced today that they have added an additional game date to the "Hat Trick for Reading" Program for the 2005 -06 season.
"We had such an overwhelming response to the program last season that to accommodate all the schools that would like to participate this year we had to add an additional game date," said Gladiators director of Community Relations Director Jim Hall. "It's a really simple program for the schools to implement and gives the kids a great reward."
The Gwinnett Gladiators Hat Trick for Reading Program is designed to help stimulate interest in reading among elementary school aged children in the Gwinnett and surrounding areas.
Each participating student will be given a Gladiators bookmark and asked to read at least three books during a specified time period and submit to their teacher "proof" they read their book. Students who "scored a hat trick" and complete the program will receive a voucher for two (2) complimentary End Zone seats.
For the 2005 - 2006 season, the Suwanee Dental Care "Hat Trick for Reading" Night will once again be offered to local public, private, and home school groups. Gwinnett County Public School kids who participate in the program will receive tickets for the Gladiators game against Columbia on Friday, November 11th, while all other counties, private, and home school groups will be able to redeem their certificates for the Gladiators game on Saturday, November 12th against Pensacola.
More than 60 local schools and 50,000 kids participated in the program last year. The Gladiators had their first sellout and an overflow crowd in excess of 11,355 on Suwanee Dental Care "Hat Trick For Reading Night" last year on November 5, 2004.
