Brampton Beast News Release

CHARLESTON, SOUTH CAROLINA - For the second straight night in South Carolina, the Brampton Beast ran into a hot goaltender.

South Carolina Stingrays netminder Parker Milner stopped all but one of the 46 shots he faced to lead the Stingrays to a 5-1 victory over Brampton at the North Charleston Coliseum on Saturday night.

The Beast came out flying to start the opening frame and outshot the Stingrays 19-9, but it was the hometown squad who opened the scoring. Paul Geiger sent a wrist shot through a screen that eluded Beast starting goaltender Will King to open the scoring at 10:53.

Brampton maintained pressure throughout the opening frame and were rewarded for their efforts in the final minute of the first period. Jordan Henry started the play in front of Stingrays starter Parker Milner. The initial shot from in close was kicked away but Chris Leveille was in the right place at the right time to slide home the rebound for his 14th goal of the season at 18:07.

The Stingrays were the team to find their scoring touch in the second period and scored twice in the frame to take a 3-1 lead into the third period. Tim McGauley gave the Stingrays a 2-1 lead just 1:29 into the second frame, walking out of the corner and tucking a low shot underneath the pad of King.

Later in the period, Stingrays captain Joe Devin got his stick on a point shot and redirected a point shot into the Beast net, making it a 3-1 game 10:33.

The Beast again outshot their opponents in the third period by a 17-7 margin, but the Stingrays found a way to add to their lead.

Mike Chen capitalized on a nice passing play and netted his first of the season at 9:50.

Nick Roberto scored into the empty net with just over a minute remaining to end any comeback hopes for Brampton.

NOTES: Molson Three Stars: 3) Devin (SC) 2) Geiger (SC) 1) Milner. The Beast finished the game 0-for-2 on the power play and a perfect 4-for-4 on the penalty kill. The Beast will conclude their busy weekend tomorrow afternoon as they prepare for their first ever game in Jacksonville against the IceMen. Puck drop is scheduled for 3:00PM.
