Kansas City Mavericks News Release

INDEPENDENCE, Mo. - Mavric Parks pitched a 22-save shutout to guide the Kansas City Mavericks (27-26-0-2) to a 1-0 win over the Allen Americans (25-24-4-2) Saturday at Silverstein Eye Centers Arena.

Jared VanWormer scored the game-winning goal just 13 minutes into the game, and the tally proved to be all the help that Parks needed. It was Kansas City's second shutout win of the year and first 1-0 shutout since Nov. 7, 2015 over Wichita.

The Mavericks jumped on top in the first as VanWormer scored his 12th of the season, assists to Corey Durocher and Mark Cooper, to take a 1-0 lead into the locker room for the first intermission.

Kansas City stifled the Americans in the second frame, limiting the visiting Americans to just three shots on goal. On the other end of the rink, the Mavs ran up 13 shots of their own to extend the home side's advantage in scoring chances to 22-11 through 40 minutes of play while maintaining the 1-0 lead.

Both teams battled to a scoreless stalemate in the final frame, preserving the 1-0 final score.

The Mavericks face the Rapid City Rush on Tuesday, a Price Chopper 2-For-1 Tuesday. Check KCMavericks.com to see how to redeem this great ticket special.
