
Sivak, Rush Skate Past Steelheads

Rapid City, SD - Peter Sivak's goal with 13:10 left in regulation held up as the game-winner on Friday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center, as the Rapid City Rush (19-31-3) skated past the Idaho Steelheads (31-18-6) for a 4-2 victory.
[cid:image003.jpg@01D3ACF9.17AB41D0]Sivak, returning from a seven game absence, collected a loose puck in the high slot off of a Kenton Miller rush and fired it past Philippe Desrosiers' blocker for his 17th of the season to make it 3-2. Matt Caito would add his fourth goal of the season into an empty net with 1:26 remaining to sealthe game 4-2 for the Rush.
Max French netted the first goal of the game 2:55 into the first period when he spun a backhander from the high slot over goaltender Christian Frey for his seventh goal of the season. French has five goals during a three-game goal-scoring streak.
Andrew Miller tied the game for Rapid City at 13:26 of the first, finding the rebound of a blocked point shot in the right-wing circle and backhanding it off of Desrosiers and in for his third goal of the season.
With two penalties late in the first period to Alexander Dahl and AJ White, the Rush opened the second period with a 5-on-3 advantage. They capitalized 57 seconds into the middle frame with Dante Salituro's one-timer from the left circle past Desrosiers giving Rapid City a 2-1 lead. It was Salituro's 19th goal of the season and his first in eleven games.
Steve McParland netted a power play goal of his own at 5:52 of the second period off of a scramble in front to tie the game 2-2, his team-leading 24th goal and ninth power play goal of the season.
The Steelheads appeared to take the lead late in the second period when Cole Ully netted a rebound past Frey, but the goal was disallowed after the referee had already blown the whistle.
Caito and Pavel Janys both had two-point nights for Rapid City.
Desrosiers made 31 saves in the loss. Frey made 23 saves for the Rush earning his third win of the season.
The Steelheads and Rush meet for the rubber-match of their three-game series on Saturday night at Rushmore Plaza Civic Center. Puck-drop is scheduled for 7:05pm MT, with the game available on 1350AM KTIK and on ECHLTV.

PLAY OF THE GAME: Christian Frey protected Rapid City's lead late in the third period with a sprawling save on Steve McParland. Down 3-2, McParland drove down the right wing on defenseman Gustav Bouramman. With a backhand toe-drag move, McParland got around Bouramman and drove to the front of the net, only to be stopped in close by the outstretched pad of Frey.
