Jakaitis on the Verge of Pro Hockey History:

Stingrays goaltender Jeff Jakaits needs 12:30 of scoreless hockey to set a new modern day professional hockey record for most consecutive shutout minutes. He enters tonight's matchup at 319:32. The record was set back in the 2003-04 season in the National Hockey League by Phoenix Coyotes goaltender Brian Boucher. By blanking the Indy Fuel last night 4-0, Jakaitis set the minor professional record, surpassing the mark set by Matt Murray of the AHL's Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins on March 8 at 304:11. The all-time professional hockey shutout record is held by Alex Connell of the Ottawa Senators and set in 1927-28. Connell posted 460:49 of shutout hockey.

Jakaitis Grabbing Wins:

Friday's win was Jakaitis' 12th in a row, putting him into a tie with former Stingray Cory Cadden who won 12 in a row with the Knoxville Cherokees in 1993-94. With another win he will tie the ECHL record for consecutive wins, which is currently held by Daniel Berthiaume who won 13 straight with the Roanoke Express in 1994-95.

Historic Winning Streak:

The Stingrays are riding a 20-game winning streak, the longest in ECHL history and second longest in North American professional hockey. The Norfolk Admirals of the American Hockey League (AHL) set the longest streak of 28 games during the 2011-12 season.

Series Breakdown:

The Stingrays hosted the Cyclones back on December 9, grabbing a 3-1 victory. Former Stingray and current Cyclones forward Branden Gracel scored a goal and an assist in the contest. The two sides close their regular-season series Wednesday at U.S. Bank Arena in Cincinnati, Ohio. All-time, the Stingrays are 6-12-2 against the Cyclones.
