WEDNESDAY, MARCH 25 - 7:30pm vs. SOUTH CAROLINA
WET WEDNESDAY / GAME SHOW NIGHT
Tonight's Matchup: Tonight the Cyclones will look to put a halt to the ECHL's all-time longest winning streak as they visit the South Carolina Stingrays for the final time this season. Cincinnati had previously held the record with 17 straight wins back in 2008. The Stingrays captured a 3-1 win over the Clones back in December for their only previous get-together in 2014-15.
Scouting the Stingrays: Spencer Carbery's club routed the Indy Fuel last night to earn their 20th consecutive victory, extending their ECHL record again. Brandon Wong, who was acquired from Evansville earlier this year, leads the club overall with 49 points (19g, 30a) in 60 games. Wayne Simpson has been a dangerous offensive threat as well, accruing 45 tallies (15g, 30a) in 58 contests. Goaltender Jeff Jakaitis has sparkled for the Stingrays of late, setting an ECHL record with his fourth consecutive shutout last night. Coming into tonight, he hasn't allowed a goal in 319:32 seconds and owns a solid 21-7-1-1 record with a 1.90 goals-against average. Adam Morrison has done well between the pipes for South Carolina, too, going 15-5-0-2 with a stingy 1.88 GAA.
Last Time Out: A quick offensive outburst in the second period helped lift the Road Warriors over the Cyclones by a 4-1 final score in front of 3,628 at Bon Secours Wellness Arena last night. Jack Downing netted another goal for the Cyclones in a losing effort.
The New Guy: Cincinnati added a new face to the roster as they head down the stretch - forward Nick Huard. The two-time CIS All-Star just completed a three-year career at the University of Guelph where he amassed 91 points (40g, 51a) in 79 games.
Power Surge: The Cyclones have been on a tear of late with the power play. They have tallied strikes with the man-advantage in four of their last five games and now own a 15.0% conversion rate on the season.
