Greenville, S.C. - The South Carolina Stingrays (38-26-5-3) wrapped up the 2012-13 regular season with a 3-1 victory over the Greenville Road Warriors (36-27-2-6) at the Bi-Lo Center Friday night. The Stingrays closed the season series against their in-state rivals with an 8-5-0-1 record.

The Stingrays opened the scoring late in the first period when forward Eric Alexander buried his first professional goal on the power play at 19:09 lifting a wrist shot over the glove of Road Warriors goaltender Scott Stajcer (L, 28 saves on 31 shots) from the top of the goal crease. Forwards Robby Dee and Peter Boyd picked up assists.

Forward Andrew Cherniwchan made it a two-goal Stingrays lead at 9:49 of the second period with help from defenseman Derek Foam. The Road Warriors cut the lead in half at 15:48 with a tally from forward Sean Berkstresser tapping a loose puck over the left arm of Stingrays netminder Ryan Zapolski (W, 32 saves on 33 shots).

In the final frame, Stingrays forward Justin Courtnall put the game away with his fifth goal of the season at 9:06 from forwards Alex MacLeod and Andrew Sackrison. The Stingrays ended the contest 1-for-7 on the power play while the Road Warriors went 0-for-3. With the win and the Elmira Jackals winning their game earlier in the evening, the Stingrays are locked into the sixth seed of the Eastern Conference and await the winner of the third seed between the Gwinnett Gladiators and Florida Everblades for the first-round best-of-seven Eastern Conference Quarterfinals series.
