
Stingrays Erase Three-Goal Deficit to Defeat Everblades in Overtime

North Charleston, SC -Josh Godfrey netted two goals and Trent Campbell recorded two points (1g, 1a) as the South Carolina Stingrays (32-21-2-2) erased a three-goal deficit to defeat the Florida Everblades (30-25-1-3) 4-3 in overtime in front of 3,070 at the North Charleston Coliseum Sunday afternoon.
The Everblades scored two power play goals and an even-strength marker in the opening period to take a 3-0 lead into the first intermission. Forward Alex Hutchings kicked off the scoring on the man advantage at 5:07 from forward Ross Carlson and defenseman David Fischer. Matt Beca gave the Everblades a two-goal lead on the power play at 14:53. Forwards Francis Lemieux and Alex Imbeault earned the assists. Defenseman Bobby Raymond grabbed the final tally of the first period slapping home his fifth of the season past Stingrays goaltender Shane Owen at 18:38. Forwards Ian McDonald and Hutchings picked up assists.
The Stingrays jumped on the board on the power play at 10:34 of the second period when forward Matt Scherer tapped in a rebound past Everblades keeper Adam Avramenko. Defenseman Dustin Stevenson and forward Pierre-Luc O'Brien grabbed assists. Godfrey pulled the game within one at 15:52 from Owen.
Godfrey tied the contest midway through the final stanza slapping in a pass from Campbell at 10:10. Scherer registered the second assist. With Rays forward Tommy Goebel in the box for hooking at the start of overtime, Campbell completed the comeback with an unassisted shorthanded tally at 1:07 of the extra session.
Owen recorded his second straight victory over the Everblades stopping 24 of 27 shots. Avramenko suffered the loss kicking away 30 of 34 Stingrays chances. The Stingrays finished the night going 1-for-5 on the power play while the Everblades went 2-for-6.
