ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign, proud affiliate of the NHL ¬â¢s Los Angeles Kings, fell to the Stockton Thunder, 4-3, before 5,797 fans at Citizens Business Bank Arena Sunday evening.
Stockton put up the initial point of the game with a goal by Chris Lawrence at 1:48 of the opening period. Alex Bourret responded with his second goal in as many nights at 3:55. Jordan Hill ¬â¢s stretch pass put Bourret on a breakaway which he converted with a low snap shot to tie it at one. Jordan Fulton ¬â¢s goal at 6:22 re-established a one-goal lead for Stockton, 2-1.
Jordan Foreman made it a 3-1 Thunder lead at 14:29 of the second period with a short-handed goal, but drew a delay of game penalty just seconds later and the Reign capitalized on the two-man advantage. Kyle Kraemer tipped Hill ¬â¢s pass past Thunder netminder Dan Tormey at 15:30 to cut the Stockton lead to 3-2.
The Reign and Thunder traded power-play goals early in the third, with Lawrence scoring for Stockton 39 seconds into the frame and Hill answering with a one-timer at 5:24. However, it was as close as the Reign would get, as they fell to the Thunder by a score of 4-3.
Mike Zacharias stopped 34 shots in the loss, while Tormey turned aside 26 for the win..
