Sarnia Sting News Release

After a dominating 4-1 victory at the SSEC Friday night against the Oshawa Generals, the Sting travelled to Hamilton Saturday night for a tilt with the Hamilton Bulldogs. The Bulldogs skated away with a 3-2 victory snapping the Sting's 3 game winning streak.

This was the second game on a three game weekend for the Sting that will be wrapped up tomorrow night in Oshawa. Jakob Chychrun scored the first goal of the game for the Sting on the powerplay from Konecny and Fazio. The first period provided a high amount of scoring chances from both teams who are coming off of wins on Friday night.

The second period belonged to the Hamilton Bulldogs that was lead by a powerplay that went 2/2 in the period. Adam Laishram provided the Bulldogs with 2 goals, and Trent Fox adding the other. The Sting offense was overpowered by the Bulldogs who came out of the gates shooting testing Fazio early and often.

The Sting entered the third period down 2 goals and provided a high amount of scoring chances looking to extend the win streak to 4 games, but ran into a hot goaltender in former Sting goalie Kaden Fulcher who was making his second start for the Bulldogs since being acquired. Patrick White scored the lone goal for the Sting off of a defensive turnover by the Bulldogs. The Sting pressured the Bulldogs throughout the period and amped up the physical play of the game providing hit after hit. The Sting came close in the final seconds of the period with the goalie pulled, but came up short.

Fulcher stood tall for the Bulldogs who gained first win in a Bulldogs uniform against his former team making 30 saves on 32 shots shutting down a red hot Sting offense. Justin Fazio got the call for the Sting tonight, and provided an assist on the opening goal of the game. Fazio finished with 21 saves on 24 shots with the addition to key saves in the second period to keep the game close.
