Erie Otters News Release

Eight Owen Sound Attack players found the back of the net as they shutout the Erie Otters 8-0. The loss marked the first time the Otters allowed eight goals in a game since February of 2014.

The Otters struggled in the first period allowing four goals to slip behind Jake Lawr, the most they have conceded in a period this season. Kevin Hancock collected a rebound off of Lawr to give the Attack the initial lead. Two minutes later Markus Phillips scored his second of the season as he snuck a wrist shot from the point through multiple players' legs to put Owen Sound up two. Later in the period Justin Brack elevated Owen Sounds lead to three on a feed from Nick Suzuki. The Attack picked up their fourth of the period when Suzuki scored with 20 second left in opening period to boost their lead to four.

Head coach Kris Knoblauch instilled his confidence in Lawr by leaving him between the pipes to start the second frame. Play was fairly even throughout the period but following an Otters giveaway Jonah Gadjovich ripped a one time shot past Lawr. With 15 seconds remaining in the middle period Josh Sterk deposited a puck into the net that ricocheted off the iron as the Attack increased the margin to six.

The Otters could not break the shutout in the final period as the Attack scored two late power play goals to secure an 8-0 win.

The Otters get a chance to move past the loss as they are back in action against the Attack tomorrow at 2:00 p.m. to complete the weekend series.
