Brampton Steelheads News Release

Kitchener, ON - The Steelheads visited the Kitchener Rangers for a Friday night tilt at the Kitchener Memorial Auditorium Complex. The Rangers came into the game having won five of their last six contests, and added one more to their win column as they rallied back to top the Steelheads 5-3.

Adam Mascherin opened the scoring at 13:17 of the opening frame to give Kitchener a 1-0 lead. Shortly after, Jeremy Bracco put the Rangers up 2-0, capitalizing on the power play. Daniel Muzito-Bagenda would get the Steelheads on the board at 16:29 from Daniel De Sousa and Mason Marchment. With just over two minutes to play in the first period, a power outage occurred at the Aud. The leftover time was added onto the beginning of the second.

The Steelheads came out in the second with a refreshed effort. Alexander Nylander potted his 23rd of the season with a bullet shot from the top of the circle. Michael McLeod drew the assist as the score was knotted at 2-2. Mississauga then took their first lead of the game as DMB fed Mason Marchment a pass from behind Kitchener's goal, where he made no mistake netting his first as a Steelhead. That lead would be short-lived as Kitchener answered back with a goal from Ryan MacInnis to even the score at 3-3. Before time ran out in the middle frame, the Rangers regained their lead as Darby Llewellyn scored his 12th of the season and eventual game winner.

Mascherin added one more in the third; his second of the game, on the power play to secure a 5-3 win for the Rangers.

The Steelheads are back in action Saturday night to take on the London Knights, before returning home Sunday to host the Kingston Frontenacs at the Hershey Centre.
