Team Effort Scores 67's Big Win on the Road

January 16, 2016 - Ontario Hockey League (OHL)
Ottawa 67's News Release

It was a solid team effort from the Ottawa 67's Saturday night in Peterborough. Jeff Brown's crew rebounded from Friday's defeat against Niagara putting in an impressive road performance with a 5-2 win over the Petes. Tonight's win puts the 67's in a tie for 2nd place in the East Division of the Ontario Hockey League.

The 67's had all the momentum and chances in the opening period. William Brown scored his first career OHL goal, off a great feed from Nathan Todd and Dante Salituro to put the 67's on the board. Jeremiah Addison scored on the powerplay extending the lead to 2-0 after 20-minutes.

The Petes scored early in the second period, but the 67's responded with a pair of goals. Connor Graham and Trent Mallette worked a 2-on-1 to perfection as Graham tallied to regain the 67's two-goal advantage. Later in the period, Nathan Todd scored his 8th of the season extending the lead to 4-1. Todd's goal forced Petes coach Jody Hull to make a goalie change to try and shake up his team as Dylan Wells was replaced by Matthew Mancina at midway through the second period.

A Petes powerplay goal in the third period pull the home side within two, but Jeremiah Addison responded scoring his second of the game and 18th of the season to give the 67's the 5-2 win.

A 23 save effort from Herbst helped improve Ottawa's record to 21-20-1-1 on the season.

Newcomer Sasha Chmelevski was on the receiving end of a big hit in the second period and did not return to the game.

The 67's are back in action tomorrow afternoon against the Flint Firebirds with a 3pm puck-drop at the Arena at TD Place.
