Brantford Bulldogs News Release
HAMILTON, Ontario - Adam Laishram scored two goals for the Hamilton Bulldogs (16-23-3-0) as they defeated the Sarnia Sting (22-12-5-1) 3-2.
Hamilton would welcome the red hot Sarnia Sting into the FirstOntario Centre on Saturday night. The Sting came into this one having earned a point in 10 straight games going 6-0-3-1 in that time.
Both teams would come out flying in this one, trading chances at each end until Sarnia defenceman Jakob Chychrun picked up the puck in the high slot and roofed a wrist shot over the glove hand of Bulldogs starter, and former member of the Sting, Kaden Fulcher. The power play goal would be assisted by Travis Konecny and goaltender Justin Fazio at 11:05.
Sarnia would head into the first intermission with the 1-0 lead but it wouldn't last long as the Bulldogs would get a power play goal of their own just 2:10 into the period. Laishram corralled a loose puck and, with Fazio struggling to get back into position, put the puck into the empty net. Jack Hidi would also get an assist on the goal.
Laishram would put the Bulldogs ahead at 11:21 as he cut to the front of the net from the half boards and rifled a shot short side on Fazio. Laishram's second power play goal of the game, and ninth of the year, would be assisted by Ben Gleason and Brandon Saigeon.
The Bulldogs would convert on their third consecutive power play at 15:33 as a point shot from Gleason would trickle behind Fazio and Trent Fox would bang it home for his 17th of the year. Michael Cramarossa would get the secondary assist on the goal.
Sarnia would get to within one in the third when Patrick White deked out Fulcher and tucked the puck behind him. The goal at 6:53 would see assists from Anthony Salinitri and Devon Paliani.
The Sting would pepper Fulcher for the rest of the period outshooting Hamilton 11-4 in the third but the Bulldogs goalie would make every stop for the rest of the night to send the fans home happy.
Fulcher would make 30 saves for his first win as a Bulldog, while Fazio would make 21 saves in the loss.
As a result of the victory the Bulldogs have now won two games in a row. "Our playoffs started yesterday,"Â said Fulcher. "We need the points. We are bent on making a playoff push."
The former Sting goalie added, "It was good to get a win against those guys. The boys really rallied behind me."
The Bulldogs are now off until next Friday, January 22nd when they welcome the North Bay Battalion to the FirstOntario Centre for the first time this season. Game time is set for 7:30pm.
