Phoenix, Arizona - Danny Stewart's first professional goal gave the Grizzlies a 3-2 win in Phoenix.

The Grizzlies and Roadrunners battled in the first period, literally. The gloves hit the ice 11 seconds into the game as Gordon Burnett and Dan Baum tried to get their teams motivated. Two more fights ensued in the period, but neither team was able to get on the scoreboard as goaltender's Rob McVicar and Mike Morrison kept the puck out of their nets.

The teams focused on hockey in the second period, and Jake Ortmeyer drew first blood with a powerplay goal to give Phoenix the lead. The Grizzlies line of Cook, Craig and Kinasewich continued their inspired play in the game. Cook tied the game for the Grizzlies at 9:21, and Kinasewich made it 2 to 1 at 7:18.

The Grizzlie's penalty-kill fell short in the third, as Brett Smith scored the second powerplay goal of the night for Phoenix to tie the game once again. Coach Christie's move to acquire rookie Danny Stewart continued to benefit the Grizzlies as he tallied his second point in as many games. The goal was Stewart's first professional goal, which put the Grizzlies ahead 3 to 2 with 5:40 left to play to seal the victory.

Prior to the game, Utah Grizzlies Head Coach and Director of Hockey Operations Jason Christie announced that forward Justin Cox has been suspended by the team indefinitely. Cox left the team on Wednesday to pursue hockey opportunities in Europe.

Utah now travels to Stockton for Saturday and Sunday games with the Thunder. Face-off Saturday is scheduled for 8:30 p.m.

The Grizzlies return to the E-Center Wednesday, December 13 hosting Idaho. Face-off is scheduled for 7:05 p.m.
