Las Vegas Wranglers News Release
Las Vegas - Opening a two-game home series against the Idaho Steelheads tonight, the Las Vegas Wranglers fell 6-3 after an early deficit due to special teams.
Idaho's special teams dominated the first period, with a power play goal on their first opportunity from forward Tristan King putting the team on the board. A shorthanded goal from Steelheads forward David de Kastrozza three minutes later gave Idaho the 2-0 lead, and King added another power play goal late in the period to put the Wranglers in a three-goal deficit.
Four minutes into the second, it was a 4-0 game for Idaho on a goal from forward Adrian Foster. Midway through the period, Wranglers center Chris Francis put Las Vegas on the board with a power play goal, but the Steelheads ended the period up 5-1 on their fourth power play goal of the night, coming off the stick of forward Austin Smith.
The Wranglers attempted a comeback in the third, with center Eric Lampe scoring a shorthanded goal 1:34 into the period and a goal from center Geoff Paukovich making it a 5-3 game. Idaho secured the 6-3 win, though, with a final shorthanded goal on an empty net in the last 68 seconds of the game.
