Alaska Aces News Release

The Alaska Aces saw their ECHL-best six-game winning streak, and eight-game home winning streak come to a close on Friday night as they fell to the Utah Grizzlies 4-1 at Sullivan Arena. Alaska lost for just the second time since November 4th, and dropped to 17-6 on the season, keeping the league's best record. Alaska and Utah continue their series on Saturday and Monday. Tickets are on sale now. All Aces games can be heard on NewsTalk 103.7FM and 750AM KFQD. The Grizzlies opened the game with a pair of goals early in the first period. Josh Burrows scored the first of the game at 3:24 by powering a shot from close range off of Gerald Coleman and into the net. Utah then made it 2-0 when recent acquisition Ian Schultz scored his first goal with the Grizzlies on a rebound on a power play at 8:37. Utah outshot Alaska 10-8 in the period and took a two-goal lead into the first intermission.

The Aces got on the board quickly in the second period when Matt Robinson scored his first goal of the season at 1:56 on a shot from the left wall that banked in off of Grant Rollheiser's arm. The Grizzlies answered immediately on a controversial goal. Former Ace Mark Isherwood scored after Gerald Coleman had been knocked down in the crease by Utah's Brad Mills. After not immediately ruling the play either way, referee Marc-Andre Lavoie consulted with his linesman and awarded the goal to Isherwood, making it 3-1 Utah.

The Grizzlies never looked back and capped the scoring with the only goal of the third period from Chris Donovan at 9:35. All three of Donovan's goals this year have come against Alaska at Sullivan Arena. The score held and Utah beat Alaska for the second time this season.

Gerald Coleman (5-1) suffered his first loss of the season making 19 saves on 23 shots. Grant Rollheiser (4-2-1) made 25 saves on 26 shots, picking up the win. The Aces went 0-2 on the power play and the Grizzlies were 1-2. Alaska outshot Utah 26-23 in the game.
