December 8, 2012 - ECHL (ECHL)
Ontario Reign News Release
ONTARIO, Calif. - The Ontario Reign (15-5-1-0), defending Pacific Division Champions and proud affiliate of the NHL's 2012 Stanley Cup Champion Los Angeles Kings, took down the Condors 4-2 Friday night at Citizens Business Bank Arena before a crowd of 5,744. The win marked the Reign's 13th consecutive win over the Condors.
The Reign took a commanding 3-0 lead in the first six minutes of the first period with goals from Dan Dasilva, Vincent LoVerde, and Colton Yellow Horn and would continue to hold the lead throughout the game. At 4:24 Yellow Horn tangled in the corner and was able to get the puck out to Brodie Sheahan who was waiting in the center of the right circle. He sent an across ice pass to DaSilva who slammed the puck past Condors goaltender Brian Stewart. Just 79 seconds later, Devin Setoguchi brought the puck up the left side and sent a pass to LoVerde who was coming up quick on the right and found the back of the Condors net. Chris Huxley also assisted on the play. The third goal followed just ten seconds later as Yellow Horn deked his way to the front of the Condors net and sent a beautiful backhand shot past Stewart's glove.
The Reign held onto their lead throughout the second frame, but gave up a goal with a giveaway by Cameron Burt. Burt lost control of the puck at the Reign blue line and Condors Captain Levi Nelson took it all the way into the Reign zone where he hesitated before sliding a wrist shot past JF Berube's glove side. Ontario out shot Bakersfield 17-8 in the second period.
The Condors scored their second unanswered goal at 6:04 of the final frame during a double-minor C.J. Stretch was serving for a high stick. Berube thought he had stopped the puck in his pads, but it trickled through and rested just in front of the crease. Bakersfield's Peter Boyd was quick to catch the open puck before the whistle and pushed it past the goal line for their second tally of the night. With the final seconds ticking down, Yellow Horn earned his third point of the night with a goal at 19:46. Stewart didn't have a chance to stop the puck as it was sent up and over the goalie's pads. Berube earned his seventh win of the season stopping 24 of 26 shots, and Stewart suffered the loss allowing 4 of 44 shots to go in.
Three Stars: 1. ONT - Colton Yellow Horn 2. ONT - Vincent LoVerde 3. BAK - Brian Stewart
