Steelheads Go Old-School for First Jersey Auction of the Season

December 27, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Idaho Steelheads News Release

(Boise, ID) - The Idaho Steelheads will step back in time this weekend, wearing white jerseys themed after the team's sweaters from the inaugural season in 1997. The special look will mark one of two jersey auctions the Steelheads will host this season.

The beneficiary of the jersey auction is St. Luke's Idaho Elks Children's Rehab. Idaho wore the retro-black jerseys last season for a jersey auction, which raised $9,000.

Players will wear the retro-white jerseys Friday and Saturday night against the Bakersfield Condors. During the games, fans will have the opportunity to bid on the jersey of their favorite player in a silent auction on the concourse behind Section 113, directly across from the main doors at Qwest Arena. The auction will be ended when the puck drops to start the third period on Saturday night, with the winners having the opportunity to get their new piece of memorabilia directly from the player himself.

The Steelheads have been doing jersey auctions to benefit the local community since 1998. In that time, the team has helped raise $326,338 through the auctions via charities and non-profit organizations. The team's jersey auctions raised nearly $30,000 alone during the 2009-2010 season.

The Steelheads will be back at Qwest Arena on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day to face the Bakersfield Condors. A group night with the Steelheads is a great way to celebrate the New Year with family, friends, and co-workers - and you can save money on ticket prices too.
