Reading Royals Weekly

December 27, 2010 - ECHL (ECHL)
Reading Royals News Release

TOP NOTES OF THE WEEK

1. The Royals have won three straight to put the team ten games over .500 for the first time this season. The Royals have won 6 of their last 7, 8 of their last 10, 11 of their last 14, and are 18 - 5 - 0 - 0 since starting the season 1-4-0-0.

2. Reading completed the team's latest five game road trip on Sunday with a 5-3 win in Trenton. The Royals went 4-1- 0-0 on this most recent stint away from the Sovereign Center and are 10-2-0-0 in the team's last twelve road games.

3. Trenton scored the game's first goal in Sunday's game. Reading is 8-7-0-0 this season when the opposition scores the game's first goal; and 6-3-0-0 on the road when the opponent scores first. (When the Royals score the game's first goal, the team has compiled a record of 11-2-0-0, which is a league best .846 win percentage.)

4. Sunday's 5-3 win in Trenton was Reading's tenth come-from-behind win of the season.

5. Ben Gordon scored Reading's first goal (to tie the game at one) in Sunday's game. It was his tenth goal of the year for the Royals and his 40th in 96 regular season games over the past three seasons with Reading, placing him in sole possession of sixth place all-time for goals scored by a Royal (one behind Doug Christiansen and Joe Zappala.)

6. Rob Slaney scored his first short-handed goal as a pro on Sunday in Trenton. Slaney has scored a goal in each of the last two games for the Royals and is riding a three game point streak (2g-1a). In the past two seasons, Slaney has scored 4 goals for Reading and 3 of those goals have been scored in Trenton (and all 4 have been on the road).

7. Slaney's goal on Sunday was the Royals seventh short-handed goal of the year, which is second most in the league.

8. Devin Timberlake registered his first multi-goal game as a pro on Sunday. It was his second multi-point perform- ance of the season.

9. Matt Caruana scored what proved to be the game winner with his team leading fifteenth goal of the season on Sunday. That was Caruana's third GWG this season, tying him with Ryan Cruthers for the team lead in that category.

10. Goaltender Matt Dalton won his third straight for the Royals on Sunday, stopping 37 of the 40 shots he faced in that game. That marked the third time this season that Dalton has faced forty or more shots.

11. Reading faces the Florida Everblades for a pair at home this week. Florida beat the Royals, 4-2, on November 27.
