
Wranglers Drop Overtime Contest to Reign

Las Vegas, Nev.-The Las Vegas Wranglersé dropped an overtime battle to the Ontario Reign Sunday night at the Citizens Business Bank Center in front of 6,296. The win marks only the second home victory for Ontario in fourteen attempts as they improve to 9-16-1 overall and come off their five-game losing streak. For Las Vegas the overtime defeat is the first of its kind on the road as the Wranglers slide to 15-6-3 overall and 3-0-2 against Ontario. Ontario goaltender Kellen Briggs records his eighth win of the season as he increases his lead on most minutes played this season between the pipes. Vegas' goaltender Michael Ouzas allowed three goals before being replaced by Archie Henderson who earned the loss allowing three goals in his first registered game played. Both teams tallied three times on the power play with a combined ten chances between the two clubs.
Las Vegas was able to tally the first goal of the contest at 2:29 of the first period when Vince Bellissimo notched his seventh goal of the season assisted by Dan Bertram. Ontario answered back at 5:05 with Pat Bowen's first goal of the season assisted by Alex Bourret and Dusty Collins. Ontario took the lead at 7:45 of the first period with Kyle Kraemer's power play goal assists going to David Walker and Justin Taylor. Las Vegas answered with their own power play goal at 15:58 when Vince Bellissimo tallied his second goal of the period assisted by Sean McMonagle and Eddie DelGrosso. After one period the Wranglers and Reign were tied at two and had both scored on the power play.
Ontario hopped into the lead at 5:21 of the second period when Chaz Johnson netted his sixth goal of the season unassisted. The Reign stretched the lead even further with another power play goal at 17:59 of the second period when Jeff Corey tallied his ninth of season assisted by Alex Bourret. Las Vegas brought the deficit back to one with Geoff Paukovich's third goal of the season assisted by Sean McMonagle and Blake Gallagher. After two periods the Reign were on top 4-3 but were behind in the shot count 28-17.
Las Vegas tied the game at 1:34 of the third period with a power play goal from Ryan Huddy assisted by Barry Goers and Craig Switzer. The Wranglers took the lead at 9:48 of the third period with back-to-back power play goals this one coming from Jamie Bates assisted by Vince Bellissimo and Ryan Huddy. Ontario was able to knot the game again at 13:13 when Dusty Collins found the back of the net assists going to Brett O'Malley and Jeff Corey. After three periods the Reign and the Wranglers were tied at five.
Ontario finished the battle at 2:41 of the extra frame with a power play goal from Lane Caffaro assisted by Jeff Corey and Shawn Collymore.
Las Vegas heads home to host Utah for the eighth annual Midnight Holiday Roundup game tomorrow night at the Orleans Arena. The puck drops at 11:59pm. The Wranglers head on the road after Monday's midnight game for a seven-game road streak before returning home to host the Ontario Reign on January 14th.
The Las Vegas Wranglersé are the ECHL affiliate to the National Hockey League's Phoenix Coyotes and the American Hockey League's San Antonio Rampage.
