Idaho Steelheads News Release

BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Steelheads began their Thanksgiving holiday homestand with a 5-2 win over the Anchorage Aces before a crowd of 4,056 at the Bank of America Centre.

Idaho's perfect record at home this season continues. As does it's perfect record against Anchorage. With tonight's win, the Steelheads are 6-0 against the Aces this season and keep their consecutive home win streak alive at 7.

Both teams appeared to have started their holiday early with a sluggish first period. Strong defensive play resulted in few shots on net. However, Idaho's Chris Marinucci broke through Anchorage's guard to start the scoring with his first goal on Bank of America Centre ice at 10:50 (7th of the season). The goal was assisted by Scott Swanson and Jeremy Mylymok.

The game's offensive pace picked up in second period with both teams earning more chances. The Steelheads would again get the only goal of the period when Michal Pinc scored his 3rd of the year at 5:47. Joe Rybar and Ben Keup recorded the assists.

The teams fought for the puck in the third period as if it was the last piece of pumpkin pie. Kimbi Daniels finally got Anchorage on the board at 3:05 on a power play goal, assisted by Jiri Jakes and B.J. Young. Cory Morgan scored next for Idaho at 5:52 on a power play goal, assisted by Swanson and Marinucci. 24 seconds later, Jiri Jakes put one past Jason Cugnet on a feed from Daniels. Idaho answered back with its second power play goal of the night when Swanson scored off Anchorage goalie Christian Soucy's skate, assisted by Rybar and Marinucci. Wes Dorey closed the scoring for Idaho at the 18:00 minute mark assisted by Marinucci and Swanson.

Both Swanson and Marinucci had a 4-point night, each getting 1 goal and 3 assists.

The two teams face off against each other again Friday night at the Bank of America Centre.
