November 27, 2002 - ECHL (ECHL)
Dayton Bombers News Release
The Dayton Bombers Professional Hockey Team has announced that five players will be attending Metro Parks' Riverscape in downtown Dayton from 3-5 p.m. this coming Sunday, December 1 to skate with fans.
Chris M. Thompson, Mike Vellinga, and Trevor Ettinger, who all participated in the event last season, will once again be on hand this Sunday. They will be joined by defenseman Chris B. Thompson and forward Ben Knopp.
MetroParks' RiverScape is downtown Dayton's exciting new destination point. Amidst the beautiful landscape gardens, flowering pots and hanging baskets, the park is home to a full range of activities including a free summer concert series featuring the best in local entertainment every Saturday and Sunday evening, major community festivals, senior fitness programs and twilight bike rides along the river corridor hike/bike trails.
When the weather gets cold, area residents and visitors can "Skate the Scape" as RiverScape becomes home to an ice skating rink, light displays and other family winter activities.
The Bombers have three games this week, beginning on Thursday, November 28 vs. Lexington Men O'War (7:30 p.m.). The Dayton Bombers will look for their first victory against the Men O'War this season in this special Thanksgiving game at the Ervin J. Nutter Center.
On Friday, November 29, the Bombers will play at Cincinnati against the Cyclones (7:05 p.m/ 6:50 p.m. broadcast time on www.daytonbombers.com- 'Listen Live Section' - in association with www.sportsjuice.com). The Bombers will be making their first visit to the newly christened US Bank Arena this season.
On Saturday, the Bombers will entertain the Toledo Storm (7:30 p.m) on Teddy Bear Toss Night at the Nutter Center. Fans will hurl their Teddy Bears onto the ice after the Bombers' first goal. The bears will then be donated to local police and fire departments, the Children's Medical Center, and to the Toys for Tots program. At last season's Teddy Bear Toss Night (12/15/02), the Bombers wasted no time, scoring a goal 1:07 into a 5-2 win over the Johnstown Chiefs.
Tickets for all Bombers' home games as well as corporate marketing packages are available through the Bombers' office by calling (937) 775-4747 or by logging onto www.daytonbombers.com, or by visiting the Nutter Center Box Office.
