-SPIKES LOOK TO START A NEW WIN STREAK TONIGHT: The State College Spikes, leaders of the New York-Penn League's Pinckney Division, come back to Medlar FIeld at Lubrano Park tonight to continue a six-game homestand with the second game of a three-game set against the Brooklyn Cyclones. The Cyclones, who currently sit in second place in the New York-Penn League McNamara Division, are the first out-of-division opponents for the Spikes, who are first in the Pinckney Division by a game-and-a-half over Batavia. State College is 6-19 all-time against Brooklyn, including a 2-11 mark at home against the Cyclones. Brooklyn has not visited Medlar Field at Lubrano Park since 2012.

-LAST NIGHT: The State College Spikes saw their winning streak end at seven games and their string of home wins end at five with a 4-0 loss at the hands of the Brooklyn Cyclones on Wednesday night at Medlar Field at Lubrano Park.

State College (brought the tying run to the plate in both the seventh and eighth innings, but stranded a total of five runners across the two frames. Alex De Leon led the Spikes' offense by reaching base three times on two walks and a double. Robelys Reyes contributed two doubles for State College as well.

Brooklyn took the lead on Joe Tuschak's RBI single in the second, and increased it to three runs with Michael Bernal's triple in the third. Tuschak finished off the scoring by hitting a solo home run to right field in the ninth. Cyclones starter Scarlyn Reyes made history during the game when the next to last pitch he threw on the night registered at 101 miles per hour on the Medlar Field at Lubrano Park speed gun. Reyes became the first pitcher ever to exceed 100 miles an hour with a pitch during a Spikes game at the ballpark.

-SCHUMACHER OUT TO START FOR SPIKES: Right-hander Cody Schumacher makes his fourth start as a professional for State College tonight. In his last outing, Schumacher went four innings against Jamestown on the Fourth of July, yielding three runs, two earned, on four hits, a walk, and a hit batsman. The St. Louis, MO native also struck out two. A product of Missouri State University, Schumacher was the Cardinals' 36th-round draft choice this year after following 2013 Spike Nick Petree as the winner of the Dave Dickensheet Award for Missouri State's Pitcher of the Year.

-MEISNER TO MAKE START FOR CYCLONES: Right-hander Casey Meisner makes his fifth start of the year for Brooklyn tonight. Meisner was rocked by Aberdeen in his last outing, giving up nine runs, six earned, on nine hits and two walks over 3 1/3 innings. The Cypress, TX native had notched seven strikeouts in each of the two starts preceding his most recent appearance. Meisner went six innings in a no-decision against Aberdeen on June 26, his longest stint on the mound this year. The righty was selected by the Mets in the third round of the 2013 MLB Draft out of Cypress Woods High School.

-WICK IT...WICK IT REAL GOOD : Rowan Wick grabbed more laurels to begin the 2014 season as he earned the St. Louis Cardinals Player of the Month award last Wednesday and set the Spikes' single-season home run record with his 11th homer later that night. Wick has continued his torrid start to the year, notching his 12th homer of the year last night. The North Vancouver, BC native is currently bidding for the NYPL's Triple Crown, as he added to his league-leading total with his 30th RBI of the year on Tuesday, and remains in the NYPL's batting lead with a .393 mark

-SPIKE MARKS: Wick is homering once every seven at-bats...The Spikes' 2.77 team ERA is second in the league behind Hudson Valley (2.55)...Jacob Booden's .120 opponents' batting average is fourth among NYPL relievers...Brian O'Keefe has been hit by six pitches this season, and is in the NYPL lead in that category...Catcher Adam Ehrlich was promoted to Advanced-A Palm Beach today after starting his 2014 season there..Sunday, 2007 Spikes Pitcher of the Year Tony Watson became the second former Spike to earn a berth in the Major League All-Star Game, as he was named to the NL squad...Watson follows in the footsteps of Allen Craig, who was named to last year's NL squad after playing for the Spikes in 2006
