
Stars Push Past Barons 5-2

Cedar Park, TX - The Texas Stars (13-8-0-0, 26 points) defeated the Oklahoma City Barons (13-8-1-1, 28 points) 5-2 in front of 3,368 fans on Tuesday night at Cedar Park Center. Five different goal scorers helped Texas earn its seventh win in the last nine games. Forwards Luke Gazdic, Travis Morin, Colton Sceviour and Francis Wathier each scored a goal on the night, as Texas improved to 2-1-0-0 against Oklahoma City this season. Center Mathieu Tousignant notched a goal and added an assist as the Stars improved to 9-5-0-0 at home. Texas goalie Richard Bachman (8-3-0) stopped 29 of 31 shots for the win. Barons goalie Jeff Drouin-Deslauriers (3-4-1) took the loss with 12 saves on 15 shots in the first 20 minutes of play. The Stars host the San Antonio Rampage on Friday at 7:30 pm at Cedar Park Center.
The Barons opened up the first-period scoring at 6:03 with a goal from right wing Greg Stewart. Forwards Ben Ondrus and Chris Vandevelde helped the Barons jump out to a 1-0 lead. Texas quickly responded with a goal from left wing Luke Gazdic at 7:06, with assists coming from defensemen Brad Lukowich and Philip Larsen to even the score 1-1. The Stars took the lead a minute and ten seconds later with a goal from center Travis Morin at 8:16. Forwards Greg Rallo and Fabian Brunnstrom provided assists for the 2-1 lead. Stars center Mathieu Tousignant notched the final goal of the period with 2:21 remaining in the first for the 3-1 lead.
Oklahoma City left wing Liam Reddox tallied a goal midway through the second period at 9:26. Left wing Teemu Hartikainen provided an assist as the Barons pulled within a goal at 3-2. Texas registered another goal 14:23 into second-period play from right wing Colton Sceviour. Forwards Raymond Sawada and Mathieu Tousignant supplied assists for the 4-2 lead at the end of the second.
Texas scored the lone goal of the third period with a goal by Francis Wathier at 6:54. Aaron Gagnon and Sean Backman both set up the goal for the 5-2 final.
The Stars continue their seven-game home stand to face the San Antonio Rampage on Friday, December 3rd at 7:30 pm. The Stars will then host the Houston Aeros on Saturday, December 4th at 7:00 pm. Every Saturday, fans may purchase the State Farm Family Four Pack, 4 tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 sodas for $44.00. The first 2,500 fans will also have a chance to receive a Texas Stars scarf presented by Sweet Leaf Tea.
