Atlanta Assigns Cormier to Chicago

The Atlanta Thrashers have assigned center PATRICE CORMIER (pa-TREEZ KOHR-mee-ay) to the Chicago Wolves.

CORMIER has not appeared in any games this season. Last year, he made his professional debut in nine postseason games with the Wolves during their run to the West Division Finals, notching eight penalty minutes, after being signed to an Amateur Tryout Contract on April 12, 2010.

Prior to joining the Wolves, the 20-year-old forward split the season between Rimouski Oceanic (QMJHL) and the Rouyn-Noranda Huskies (QMJHL), posting 11 goals, 31 points and 64 penalty minutes in 31 games. He also served as captain for Team Canada in the 2010 IIHF World Junior Championships and helped that squad capture the silver medal with two goals and five points in six contests.

Overall, the Moncton, New Brunswick, native tallied 144 points (63G, 81A) in 189 career QMJHL games with Rimouski and Rouyn-Noranda.
