SALT LAKE CITY - The Salt Lake City Stars, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Utah Jazz, fell to the South Bay Lakers 138-123 tonight at the Maverik Center.
All five Stars starters scored in double figures, led by Utah Jazz assignment player Brice Sensabaugh, who finished with 31 points, shooting 11-of-18 from the field and 7-of-11 from beyond the arc. Utah Jazz two-way player Josh Christopher, contributed 19 points, nine assists and four rebounds for the Stars. Meanwhile, fellow two-way Micah Potter added 17 points, eight rebounds, and an impressive four blocks on the night.
South Bay was paced by Los Angeles Lakers two-way player D'Moi Hodge, who finished with a game-high 35 points off the bench. Fellow two-way player Colin Castleton, collected a double-double on 26 points (10-of-17 from the field) paired with 14 rebounds. Louis King secured another double-double for South bay, scoring 15 points and grabbing 10 rebounds.
The competition started strong as the teams' traded baskets in the first, before South Bay pushed ahead to grab a five-point lead to end the frame. The Lakers began to push their lead, as they sent the Stars trailing into the break 69-60. Salt Lake City outscored South Bay in the final frame (38-36), with the help of Utah Jazz assignment player Brice Sensabaugh's 19 points in the quarter. However, South Bay claimed the final victory 138-123.
The Stars will rematch the South Bay Lakers tomorrow afternoon at Delta Center, the home of the Utah Jazz, for the second game in their back-to-back set. The game will tip off at 1 p.m. MT and will be broadcast LIVE on Jazz+ and NBAGLeague.com. Tomorrow's game will be closed to the public.
