Iowa Chops News Release

DES MOINES, IA - The Iowa Stars wrapped-up a two-game set with the visiting Houston Aeros Saturday afternoon at Wells Fargo Arena. After spotting the Aeros a three-goal lead, the Stars battled back but the effort was not enough, as Houston defeated Iowa, 4-3.

Saturday's game did not begin the way Iowa hoped as Houston scored just :31 seconds in the contest. The Aeros added to their lead at 3:04 of the first. The 2-0 lead quickly became a 3-0 lead when Kirby Law scored his 33rd goal of the season at 3:58 of the opening frame. Houston's third goal chased goalie Dan Ellis from the Iowa net. Ellis, who faced seven shots, was replaced by Mike Smith. Iowa's Janos Vas put a dent in the 3-0 lead when he scored his second goal of his rookie campaign.

The Stars pulled to within one goal when Yared Hagos scored the lone goal of the second period. David Oliver picked-up an assist on the tally and in doing so, tied a franchise record six-game point-streak he established earlier this season. During the six-game streak, the British Columbia native has five goals and two assists.

Houston's Curtis Murphy scored the game's lone power-play goal to give the Aeros a 4-2 lead 5:04 into the third period. Toby Petersen pulled Iowa to within one with his team-leading 17th goal of the season. Despite firing a season-high 48 shots on goal, the comeback fell one goal short.

Following the game, the Stars welcomed fans in attendance to partake in an on-ice photograph session with the entire team.

Attendance was 5,029. Power-play chances: IOWA: 0 for 6; HOUSTON: 1 for 5
