Cleveland Barons News Release

CLEVELAND, OH - Mark Hartigan and Joakim Lindstrom registered two point games for Syracuse leading the Crunch to a 3-1 win over the Barons Saturday night. Nolan Schaefer made 29-saves in the losing effort for the Barons who look for redemption tomorrow night at Rochester.

A low scoring affair featured just one goal through the first forty minutes of action. Both goaltenders looked exceptionally sharp shutting down the oppositions' offense for the majority of the night. Cleveland's Nolan Schaefer stopped nine of 10 Syracuse shots-on-goal in the first period only to be out-done by Mike Ayers' 16-saves in the second period.

Marc Methot's first goal as a professional gave the Crunch a 1-0 lead at the 8:37 mark of the first period. The goal, which held as the nigh's only tally until the 7:07 mark of the third period, was assisted by Alexandre Picard and Joakim Lindstrom.

Lindstrom helped extend the Crunch lead to 2-0 as he set up Geoff Platt for his 20th goal of the year. Just 1:28 later Riley Armstrong's second goal of the season trimmed the lead in half. The Barons goal was assisted by Tomas Plihal and Craig Valette. Mark Hartigan, who also assisted on the Platt goal, scored his 27th of the season to put the game away at the 12:49 mark trickling a puck through the leg pads of Schaefer.

The Barons' second of five consecutive games on the road takes the team to Rochester for a meeting against the Amerks at 6pm EST. The broadcast can be heard live through the Barons official web site, www.clevelandbarons.net. The team returns home on Friday, March 3 and Saturday, March 4 for back-to-back games against the Hamilton Bulldogs. Both home games begin at 7 O'clock and tickets are available now at the Quicken Loans Arena Box Office.
