Toronto Marlies News Release
The St. John's Maple Leafs and Special Olympics Newfoundland and Labrador is proud to announce that Glenn Stanford has been awarded the Canadian Special Olympics National Sports Celebrities Festival Volunteer of the Year.
Glenn Stanford is one of the key figures in the turn around of Special Olympics Newfoundland & Labrador and has made the Sports Celebrity Festival (SCF) event one of the marquee events of the year. Through his work with the St. John's Maple Leafs he has been able to form relationships with many of the major corporations in the province that form the base of their ticket sales, auction items and sponsorships. He was a key player in convincing the Special Olympics of Newfoundland & Labrador (SONL) board to support the move of the SCF event to a dinner function with hopes of raising an all time high in donations.
Stanford provides encouragement, professionalism and enjoyment from his volunteer work with the SONL Board and the SCF Committee. He believes that a consistent approach is essential to the development of the organization and demonstrates this with his dedication, organizational skills and enthusiasm for Special Olympics Newfoundland & Labrador.
The St. John's Maple Leafs host the Grand Rapids Griffins tonight at Mile One Stadium. Game time is 7:35pm (NT) and will be broadcast live on Radio NL (930AM) and www.sjmapleleafs.ca.
