MacTavish Named to Team Canada Coaching Staff
December 8, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Edmonton Road Runners News Release
The Edmonton Oilers have announced head coach Craig MacTavish has been named one of three assistant coaches for Team Canada at the 2004 Loto Cup.
MacTavish, selected by Team Canada head coach Marc Habscheid, will be joined by Dave Adolph (University of Saskatchewan Huskies) and Jim Boni (Vienna of the Austrian Elite League) as assistant coaches.
The 2004 Loto Cup will be held in Piestany, Slovakia from December 16-18, 2004. Canada's three tournament games will see them face-off against Austria on December 16, Switzerland on December 17 and Slovakia on December 18. Team Canada will also play one exhibition game prior to the tournament against Slovakia on December 14.
Canada returns to the Loto Cup as defending champions, having captured last year's title with a 4-3 win over the host Slovakian national team, finishing the round-robin tournament with a 2-0-1 record.
Of note, Edmonton Road Runner forward Dan Baum was a member of Canada's gold medal winning team last year.
