Teddy Bear Toss Highlights Big Road Runners Weekend

December 8, 2004 - American Hockey League (AHL)
Edmonton Road Runners News Release

The Edmonton Road Runners are home at Rexall Place for two games and a first-place showdown against the Manitoba Moose this weekend.

Friday night's game will feature the Road Runners first-ever Teddy Bear Toss. Everyone is encouraged to bring an unwrapped plush toy to the game. Then, when the Road Runners score their first goal of the game, fans can celebrate by throwing their bears onto the ice surface. The bears will be collected and then distributed after the game to the Zebra Child Protection Society.

"For anyone who hasn't seen a Teddy Bear Toss before, this is one night you won't want to miss," said Stew MacDonald, President of the Edmonton Road Runners. "Just imagine watching a downpour of teddy bears from every corner of the stadium. It's fun for the whole family. Just don't forget to bring a teddy bear."

Friday's game is also and Edmonton Sun Family Pack Night. A family of four can purchase 4 game tickets, 4 hot dogs and 4 soft drinks for only $64. The puck drops Friday at 7:00 P.M.

The Road Runners and Moose face-off again on Sunday afternoon at 2:00 P.M. All kids attending the game are invited to bring their skates and helmet, and join the Road Runners mascot, Razzle, on the Rexall Place ice for a post-game skate.

Santa Claus has also taken up residence in Rexall Place at all Road Runners home games through until Christmas.

Tickets for both games are available at all Ticketmaster ticket outlets, or by calling 414-GOAL. For more information, please contact Darren Krill, Manager of Events & Promotions, at (780) 414-4680.
