Stampede Stumble in Iowa

DES MOINES - Eric Devendorf scored a season-high 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting and Paul Carter registered his first double-double as a Stampeder with 16 points and 11 rebounds, but Idaho (6-8) lost to the Iowa Energy 108-86 at Wells Fargo Arena.

The Stampede got off to a quick start, with a 27-18 lead after the first quarter, but they gave up 30 points in each of the next three quarters as the Energy shot over 50 percent in each period the rest of the way. Idaho was out-rebounded 63-44 and shot just 37.1 percent for the game, despite making 10-of-19 shots in the first quarter.

Mildon Ambres and Tony Bobbitt each scored 12 points, while David Bailey added 11 and six assists and Will Foster blocked five shots. In their last three losses, Idaho has lost by 20 or more points and their average margin of defeat in their eight losses this season is 19.1 points.

Iowa (10-4) was led by Nick Covington (4-4 3FG), who had 20 points, 10 rebounds and seven assists and Moses Ehambe, who finished with 19 points, four rebounds and two steals.

Idaho plays next at Bakersfield for a two-game set on Jan. 6-7 at 8 p.m. (MST).
