Frisco, TX DEC. 29, 2011 - The Texas Legends watched an electric performance from Chris Roberts, but fell short to the Rio Grande Valley Vipers, 104-93 on Thursday night.

Roberts was sensational on both ends of the ball providing 17 points, seven rebounds, four assists, five steals and three highlight-reel blocks for the Legends, but Texas' poor shooting was too much to overcome the Vipers.

Texas shot 36.1% from the field compared to 48.8% by the Vipers. The Vipers were led by Tyren Johnson who had 19 points and nine rebounds, but it was Lee Humphrey who hit big shots when it mattered most. Humphrey supplied five three's for the Vipers keeping the inside-outside game working as Julian Sensley attacked the paint for 15 points. The Vipers dominated the paint outscoring the Legends 54 to 26.

Greg Ostertag made his first appearance in a Legends uniform, contributing 11 rebounds, one blocked shot, and two points. Drew Neitzel returned to the Legends after being waived by the Dallas Mavericks last week. Neitzel had 10 points, five assists, and two steals on the night.

While Texas (4-9) would like time to gel with new teammates, they must press on as they'll face Tulsa (7-5) tomorrow night at Dr Pepper Arena in Frisco when they will honor Del Harris by retiring his "jersey" before the game as he joins the ring of honor with Nancy Lieberman and Spud Webb.
