Jam Outworked by Bighorns at Home

BAKERSFIELD, December 29, 2011 - The Bakersfield Jam (7-5) fell to the Reno Bighorns (6-6) 139-114 at the Jam Events Center Thursday night. The Jam drop their first game of the season against the Bighorns, leading the season series 3-1 with 5 more games to play against Reno this year.

The two teams went neck and neck in the first period with the Jam coming out on top to lead 34-33 but in the second quarter the momentum shifted to Reno's side as their shots began to fall and they took a 66-60 lead going into halftime. The Jam could not stop the Bighorns in the third as they went on to shoot 75.0% from the field compared to Bakersfield's 36.4%, outscoring the Jam 42-21 to take a commanding 108-81 lead going into the final period and cruising on to victory.

In his Bakersfield Jam debut, Jeremy Hazell had a team-high 25 points off the bench. Osiris Eldridge finished the game with 17 points and 7 assists. Renaldo Major had 16 points and 6 rebounds. Jeremy Wise tallied 12 points, 5 rebounds and 7 assists in his first start of the season. Juan Pattillo chipped in 11 points off the bench.

The Bighorns were led by a dynamic backcourt of Andre Emmett and Blake Ahearn who scored 39 and 35 points respectively. Ahearn also dished out a game-high 12 assists. Terrance Thomas also contributed a double-double of 18 points and 12 rebounds and Adrian Oliver added 14 points off the bench.

The two teams will go at it again tomorrow night at the Jam Events Center, tip-off 7 p.m. PT.
