Bakersfield Jam News Release

BAKERSFIELD - Juan Pattillo scored a team-high 18 points, including a jumper with 9.3 seconds remaining in the game, to lead the Bakersfield Jam to a 99-98 victory over the visiting Reno Bighorns on Friday night. The Jam improve to 8-5 record on the season, while the Bighorns drop to 6-7.

Similar to the start of the game last night, the score was tied at 26 points even at the end of the first quarter but the final outcome was in favor of the Jam this time around. Bakersfield controlled the second quarter outscoring Reno 36-28 and entered halftime with a 62-54 advantage. But the Bighorns would not surrender as they rallied back in the third behind Andre Emmett's 9 point quarter and finished the period on a 13-0 run to lead 80-76 going into the final 12 minutes of the game. Reno led for the majority of the fourth but Bakersfield would not quit as they took back the lead on a Renaldo Major put-back layup with 2:38 remaining in the game. The Jam held the lead until 15.9 seconds to go in the game when Mo Charlo got fouled and converted both free throws to bring the score to 98-97 in favor of the Bighorns. Pattillo hit a jumper from the top of the key to give the Jam their final lead. Terrance Thomas could not get a long three pointer to go as the time expired.

Adam Koch, finished the game with his first double-double of the season (14 points and 10 rebounds) and David Palmer recorded 14 points and 9 rebounds of his own. Jeremy Hazell tallied 13 points on the night and Major had 12 points and 8 rebounds.

Reno guards had another solid night for the Bighorns as Emmett scored 29 points and Blake Ahearn added 20. Terrance Thomas contributed a 13 point 10 rebound double-double and Charlo recorded 12 points and 9 rebounds off the bench.

The Jam will open the New Year on the road against the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Wednesday, January 4 at 7 p.m. PT.
