Dakota Wizards News Release

Bismarck, N.D. (Dec. 30, 2011) - Behind a triple-double from point guard Maurice Baker, the Dakota Wizards coasted to 111-98 victory over their rival the Skyforce of Sioux Falls. Dakota used a 31-13 run in the third quarter and never look back in Friday night's game at the Bismarck Civic Center. Baker finished the night with 14 assists to go along with 15 points and 11 boards.

The Wizards held the Skyforce to just 33.3% shooting in the first quarter as they jumped out of the gates in the first quarter behind Anthony Goods 12 of his team high 22 points. Dakota would find themselves up 33-21 heading into the second. Quarter number two turned out to be the exact opposite as Dakota shot 35% from the field and Sioux Falls would outscore the Wizards 35-17 to take a 6 point lead heading into the locker room.

Sioux Falls pushed their lead up to 11 with 9:40 left in the third quarter but over the next two minutes, the Wizards went on a 13-2 run to tie the game at 68. The Skyforce went cold and found themselves down 7 heading into the final quarter. Dakota pushed the lead to 15 in the fourth on an Edwin Ubiles lay-up. Sioux Falls would try to make a comeback but Dakota had an answer for every bucket to seal the victory.

Anthony Goods lead the way with 22 points going 3 for 5 from behind the arc. Marcus Dove recorded a double-double scoring 14 points and snagging 12 rebounds.

Sioux Falls was led by Casey Mitchell as he scored a game high 24 points on 4 for 9 from the 3-point line. Billy McShepard tallied a double-double with 10 rebounds and 10 points.

The same two teams battle tomorrow for round 2 right here in Bismarck. Dakota improved to 5-6 on the season while Sioux Falls dropped to 5-9.
