BOISE, Idaho - The Idaho Stampede improved to 4-1 on the season after defeating the Dakota Wizards 105-94 in Boise on Wednesday night. The Wizards fell to 1-5 in the loss.
Jermareo Davidson was one rebound shy of his fifth consecutive double-double, leading all Stampede scorers with 25 points and finishing with nine rebounds. Davidson shot 68% (11-16) from the field. Denham Brown led all scorers for the Wizards, ending the game with 25 points.
Dakota benefited from pin-point shooting in the first quarter, making 68% (11-16) of their shots from the field and ending the quarter with a slight 24-23 advantage.
The Stampede came fighting back in the second quarter, going on a 19-6 run giving them a 48-33 lead with 2:39 remaining in the half. The Wizards answered with a 9-2 run of their own, closing the gap going into the half 50-42.
Stampede forward Jason Ellis provided a spark off the bench in the first half, finishing the game with a double-double, scoring 10 points and grabbing 16 rebounds.
"I can't say it enough, I'm so proud of our entire team," said Stampede Head Coach Bryan Gates. "Not only did our starting five do a fantastic job, but our bench came off and had 10 assists and 21 rebounds. That's what will win games."
The Stampede utilized five players scoring in double figures to maintain their lead in the second half. Lance Allred scored 21 points and pulled down 10 rebounds, ending the game with his fourth double-double of the season. Luke Jackson scored 17 points, while Coby Karl dropped in 12 points and dished out seven assists, in the win.
Wizards guard Maurice Baker scored 21 points and grabbed a team high eight rebounds. Renaldo Major added 17 points for Dakota, while David Bell came off the bench to score 12 points.
The Stampede will head on the road to play the Los Angeles D-Fenders on Friday night before returning home on Saturday night to face-off against the Utah Flash at 7:00 pm.
