Colorado 14ers News Release

NEW YORK, Dec. 10 2008 - The Denver Nuggets today assigned center Cheikh Samb and guard Sonny Weems to the team's NBA Development League affiliate Colorado 14ers. Samb and Weems become the 10th and 11th NBA players to be assigned to an NBA D-League team this season.

In six games for the Nuggets this season, Samb recorded four points, five blocks and nine rebounds in 23 minutes of action. A member of the Detroit Pistons during the 2007-08 season, Samb averaged 1.8 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.50 blocks in 7.8 minutes. No stranger to the NBA D-League, Samb was assigned to the Fort Wayne Mad Ants last season, where he averaged 10.9 points, 7.1 rebounds and a league-leading 4.0 blocks in 19 games.

Weems, who was drafted by the Chicago Bulls in the second round (39th overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft before being traded to the Nuggets in June, was a four-year contributor at Arkansas. During his senior season, he averaged 15.0 points, 4.5 rebounds and 2.6 assists en route to being named First Team All-SEC by the league's coaches. Additionally, he earned Second-Team honors from the Associated Press.

Samb and Weems will join the 14ers in Colorado this afternoon and will be in action when the team travels to take on the Austin Toros on Dec. 12 at the Austin Convention Center.
