Bighorn Players Read to Children

RENO, December 9th - Reno Bighorns will be sending several of its players to the Northwest Reno Library on Thursday, December 11th starting at 4 p.m. They will be reading to kids of all ages and encouraging kids to participate with them in the reading session. Other activities will be an appearances with Bruno, the Bighorns Mascot, and the Bighorns Dancers.

"This is an important program for the NBA Development League and our players are looking forward to interacting with children and teens in this reading program," said Tony Funderburg, COO of the Reno Bighorns.

All children and teens are encouraged to come and meet the players and participate in the Read to Achieve Program from 4:00 to 4:30 p.m. and immediately following, they can participate in the games with the Mascot and dancers until 6:00 p.m.

The Northwest Reno Library is at 2325 Robb Drive in Reno.

Read to Achieve is a year-round, league-wide initiative supported by NBA, WNBA and NBA D-League teams that promotes the values of reading and on-line literacy and encourages families and adults to read regularly with young children. The program includes thousands of reading time-outs, the donation of books and literacy materials, and the creation of Reading and Learning Centers and Reading Corners throughout the world.
