Squirrels beat Fightins 3-2

(Richmond, VA) - The Reading Fightin Phils (64-69) lost 3-2 to the Richmond Flying Squirrels (62-72) 3-2 on Wednesday night. C.J. Hinojosa hit a go-ahead two-run home run off Ranfi Casimiro (5-4) in the bottom of the fifth inning to give Richmond the lead.

For the third straight game, the Fightin Phils scored first against the Flying Squirrels. Darick Hall and Jose Pujols hit back-to-back RBI singles off Flying Squirrels starting pitcher Conner Menez with two outs in the top of the third inning to take a 2-0 lead. The 'Squirrels got a run off Casimiro in the bottom of the fourth inning as Caleb Gindl scored on a RBI groundout by Jonah Arenado.

Dan Slania (1-3) earned the win for the 'Squirrels as he pitched 2 1/3 scoreless innings. Aaron Brown pitched two scoreless innings in relief for Reading. Dillon McNamara earned his seventh save of the season by pitching a scoreless top of the ninth inning.
