Brooklyn Cyclones News Release
NEW YORK, NY, August 14, 2014 - On Friday, August 22nd, Sports Illustrated Swimsuit goes to Coney Island for a "Brooklyn Beach Party" a first of its kind at MCU Park on Coney Island when the Brooklyn Cyclones take on the Tri-City ValleyCats; first-pitch: 7:00 p.m. An array of Swimsuit models will be on hand for the game including - 2014 cover model Lily Aldridge, Hannah Davis, Hannah Ferguson, Gigi Hadid, Chanel Iman, Ariel Meredith, Jess Perez and Adaora Akubilo. The event takes place as part of the Cyclones Annual Military Appreciation Night where the team will distribute over 1,000 tickets to those who are serving and have served in our armed forces.
The models will all take part in an array of games and events with the fans - from throwing out the first pitch and taking batting practice to judging the worst tan lines. Between innings, there will special beach themed contests, including water balloon baseball, musical beach chairs, scuba diver obstacle courses, land surfing competitions and more! The models will also participate in a Meet and Greet with members of our armed forces as they help the Cyclones celebrate Military Appreciation Night.
"We're thrilled to partner with the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit for the Brooklyn Beach Party," said Cyclones Vice President Steve Cohen. "There are few things more iconic in sports than SI's Swimsuit Issue, and tying them in to our beach party was a perfect fit. But we are even more excited that they will help us with our Military Appreciation efforts." "Sports Illustrated Swimsuit and the Brooklyn Cyclones is a fantastic way to celebrate our great summer pastimes," said MJ Day, Sports Illustrated Assistant Managing Editor / Swimsuit Editor. "But really this is about supporting our servicemen and women and it is our honor to do so. We hope the stadium is packed."
The Cyclones and the models will also be wearing beach-themed on-field jerseys that were specially designed by Sports Illustrated and produced by Russell Athletic as part of the evening's festivities. The jerseys will be raffled off throughout the game with proceeds to benefit Welcome Back Veterans, a charity that works closely with Major League Baseball, and focuses on raising money to help our returning veterans and their families. They are focused on serving those who have served us.
"Russell Athletic is proud to celebrate the rich summer tradition of baseball by partnering with the Brooklyn Cyclones and members of the 2014 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit edition on this exciting event," said Robby Davis, Russell Athletic Sr. Vice President General Manager. "We are especially grateful to be a part of the evening's Military Appreciation Night which will help give back to Welcome Back Veterans, and look forward to a great night in Brooklyn."
Tickets for the game, which start at just $10, are available now by calling 718-507-TIXX, logging on to BrooklynCyclones.com or in person at the MCU Park box office.
