
Spitfires Fall to Flint 8-3

The Flint Firebirds travelled over the border for a matchup with the Windsor Spitfires. The Spitfires had Flint's number coming into tonight's game going 3-0-1-0 against the Firebirds this season.
In the first period, the Firebirds didn't take long to get on the scoreboard, just 2 minutes and 3 seconds into the game. However, after this goal, they never looked back. Late in the period, they added another two goals with one coming on the powerplay. Flint led 3-0 after 20 minutes of play. The shots were in favour of Flint 9-6.
In the second period, Flint scored another three goals, one on the powerplay and one penalty shot to make it 6-0 just over halfway through the game. Late in the period, the Spitfires managed to get some offense going with rookie Johnston taking it to the net and burying his 8th of the season. Just three minutes later, Angle scored to make it a 6-2 game after 40 minutes.
In the third frame, the Spitfires struck early just 2 minutes into the period. Douglas deflected Boka's shot to make it a 6-3 game. Right after that, the Spitfires had an offensive chance from Foudy and Cuylle but it was denied. The Firebirds went on to add two more goals and take this game 8-3. The final shot totals were 37 for Flint and 20 for Windsor.
The Spitfires' next game goes January 31st tomorrow in London with puck drop scheduled for 7:30 pm. After that game on Saturday, February 1st, the Spitfires are in Owen Sound for a contest with the Attack with puck drop at 7:30 pm.
