Dayton Dragons News Release
Dayton, Ohio-Taylor Harbin collected three hits and scored two runs and Cristian Beltre allowed just one run over six innings as the South Bend Silver Hawks defeated the Dayton Dragons 5-2 on Friday night. The loss dropped the Dragons to 26-33 on the season.
Beltre (6-4) allowed only two men to reach base over the first five innings as South Bend built a 5-0 lead before the Dragons scored in the sixth.
The Silver Hawks scored a pair of unearned runs in the second and then added one more in the fourth and one in the fifth against Dragons starting pitcher Josh Ravin (1-3). Ravin worked four plus innings, allowing two hits and four runs (two earned) with five walks and five strikeouts to suffer the loss.
Dayton got on the board in the sixth on three consecutive singles by Justin Reed, Keltavious Jones, and Brandon Waring. Waring's hit drove in Reed to make it 5-1.
Waring drilled a solo home run leading off the ninth, his 12th homer of the year, to close out the scoring.
The Dragons finished with six hits including three by Waring, who snapped out of a 1 for 15 slump.
The Dragons host South Bend again on Saturday at 7:05 p.m. (Time Warner Digital Cable Channel 99 and WING 1410 AM). Curtis Partch (2-7, 5.63) will start for Dayton.
